No matter where you are in or near the Puget Sound the Olympics grace you with their majestic silhouette. This is one of my favorite places to visit in Washington, its so diverse and wild!
This piece Features an olympic national park map from the western view and is backed with one of my favorite sunset photos.
The white drawing is made by tracing the map lines into the mount-scape silhouette.
Each is illustration is done by hand.
Materials:
White ink, plexiglass, aluminum photo print, map
Artwork features the details from the map below
I trace each map line with a white pen
The white ink is on the foreground
The map is on the back of the plexiglass
The map is printed like a screen print
All work is based on USGIS and historical map files
All background photos are originals
The white ink is set with heat.
It doesn’t come off. (You can touch it)
Artwork hangs in bathrooms, kitchens, outside on covered porches or direct sunlight.
All color in the background is an original photograph take by me.
Each photograph is matched to the map location.
Artwork hangs from a nail or flat screw.

About my work:
Maps are designed on clear plexiglass - I trace the map lines within the silhouette in white ink, creating original patterns from the topography or city block lines. Each map & illustration is backed with an original photograph I took on location. The unframed, dimensional nature of my work showcases the map, illustration and photographs in a single, contemporary design.
All maps are based on GIS, Forest Service Maps and historical files.
